Black and White

Just a few photos while I was out being bored. I need to get back to taking photos more often but the cold weather puts a damper on it. I was trying some black and white conversions for Mpix. (Click on images to view larger.)

Won the assignment on the Mpix Forum

This is the image I  chose for the assignment. I received the most votes and a free print. I ordered a free print for Jenni, the dental hygienist whose photo I took.

Cast came off!

Well my grandson got his cast off yesterday. The doctor thought the ex-rays looked ok but need to be read by a radiologist too. He wants him to wear the splint for 1 week (only when he is very active) as he feels the wrist is a little weak and the last thing we want is for him to fall on it and break it again. You know boys will be boys. I didn’t take along my camera this time but wish I would have. Oh well…I’m sure Deegan was happy I didn’t.

First Dental Visit

My grandson had is first official visit to the dentist (he had a quick check up with my husbands dentist once). Finally convinced him he needs to go and there was nothing to worry about. When I was young I refused to go and never told my mom I had a toothache until it was to late and I had to have the tooth removed.  I took along my camera…why not I’m a photographer right….to capture the special moment. This first image I created and entered it in a contest on a forum I belong to called MPIX. I’m hoping he will look back some day and thank me for the memories.

New Tutorial

Playing around with a tutorial tonight on a photo I took of Alaena. I am trying to figure out how I want to create this and maybe have it put on canvas. I have included a close up image to show the canvas texture.

Broken Arm

Well, it has been a hectic and long weekend. My grandson fell at school on Friday while playing outside at recess. The nurse called his mom and she called me on her way to work to let me know as he was staying at our house that night. He didn’t use the arm while even playing outside so I told my daughter we needed to take him to urgent care on Saturday. Well the doctor couldn’t say for sure but thought maybe he may have broke it and put a splint on and gave him a sling to wear. We had to wait until Monday for a radiologist to read the ex-ray and they would let us know the results. What a mess didn’t hear anything until Tuesday at 3 and yes he broke it and would be getting a cast on, on Wednesday. Can you image how hard it is to keep a 8 year old kinda quiet, not easy.  He got his cast on today and needs to have it checked in 3 weeks. Hopefully it didn’t fracture the growth plate as if he did than that bone will not grow…time will tell…..I have my fingers crossed.

Razor Rip Rider

Ever hear of a Razor Rip Rider…well I didn’t until my daughter saw it on T.V. and said we should get that formy grandson for Christmas. I decided it was a good gift for him…and he loves it. Here are a couple shots of him riding the Razor Rip Rider and a link to a video if you are interested in watching. Oh and they sleep well after riding this and being in the fresh air.

Children Poems – Poems about Children

Children are the ultimate gift to two people who love each other and the ultimate inconvenience to parents that don’t. There is no bigger responsibility, and yet a relationship with a child can bear the greatest rewards. Children intuitively know when they are wanted and when they are not. The way that they raised from the cradle will affect the people they will become. There is a famous saying that children spell love T I M E. There may be many compelling reasons why you cannot be with your children but none of them can replace time. It is gone forever.

Where Do The Children Grow

When you see a smiling face
Their happiness all over the place
Singing, laughing, cries of glee,
Come they say, Play with me
The slide, the swing, the monkey bars.
Look at them close to see who they are.
Lots of races, Ready, Set, Go.
This is how the children grow.If you watch them everyday
You’ll see they learn as they play
They’ll do what they see, and say what they hear.
You’re their teacher though out the years.
Their ideas and thoughts in their eyes shine.
Imagination is a glimpse of their mind
When you’re not looking, don’t you know
This is when the children grow.

Watch them as they learn to walk
Listen to them when they talk
Keep them safe, away from harm
Wrap them gently within your arms
Teach them to share and how to take turns.
Set good examples from which they will learn.
At home, at school, wherever they go
This is where the children grow.

She was so cute and with such a cute attude. I never new what reaction I would get. If she didn’t want to do something she always said…no thank you.

Brennan 8 months old

My youngest grandson is growing up so fast, where does the time go. I wish they lived closer so I could get some more studio shots. I closed my studio area down for the winter…gotta put the car in so it will start. I take my grandson Deegan to school when he spends the night at grandma’s as I don’t want to stand at the end of the driveway in the freezing cold…besides he likes grandma taking him to school…not spoiled is he? :)

Here are a couple photos of Brennan at Christmas. His daddy said he is pushing one of his walker toys around the house now…just since Christmas. He said he goes so fast that he can hardly keep up to it.
